\"Great<\/a>Great Expectations <\/em>was the thirteenth novel that Charles Dickens wrote. \u00a0In the UK the novel was published in weekly installments in All the Year Round<\/em> from December of 1860 until August 1861. \u00a0Harper’s Weekly<\/em>, in the United States, published installments of the novel from November 1860 through August of 1861.<\/p>\n

All the Year Round <\/em>was founded by Dickens.\u00a0<\/em>Its first issue was printed on April 30, 1859. The publication featured serialized novels. \u00a0In fact, the first novel\u00a0it featured was Dickens’s A Tale of Two Cities<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In October of 1860 sales of All the Year Round<\/em> were declining. \u00a0The featured novel, A Day\u2019s Ride<\/em> by Charles Lever, wasn\u2019t very popular. \u00a0In order to boost sales, Dickens adapted Great Expectations,\u00a0<\/em>originally\u00a0planned for publication in another format,\u00a0to be published in All the Year Round<\/em>.\u00a0 His plan worked and sales for the publication increased.<\/p>\n
