The publication featured serialized novels. \u00a0In fact, the first novel\u00a0it featured was Dickens&#8217;s <em>A Tale of Two Cities<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In October of 1860 sales of <em>All the Year Round<\/em> were declining. \u00a0The featured novel, <em>A Day\u2019s Ride<\/em> by Charles Lever, wasn\u2019t very popular. \u00a0In order to boost sales, Dickens adapted <em>Great Expectations,\u00a0<\/em>originally\u00a0planned for publication in another format,\u00a0to be published in <em>All the Year Round<\/em>.\u00a0 His plan worked and sales for the publication increased.<\/p>\n<p><b>&#8220;Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be.
